The rhythm of heels on cobblestones punctuated Milan’s lively energy on Friday night. Gucci artistic director Demna spent a night of celebration with Demi Moore, Kate Moss, Emily Ratajkowski, Alessandro Michele, Fakemink and others at Il Baretto, a fine restaurant located in the heart of Milan’s fashionable quadrilateral.
A few hours after his catwalk debut and the star-studded appearance of his third collection, it’s time to raise a glass. In just three chapters the designer defines his idea of ”Gucciness” – which requires a certain level of confidence. It shows in the way your handbag is carried, your aged eye makeup, and the powerful steps you take in heels—even on those aforementioned cobblestones.
“I Feel Gucci,” Amelia Gray told FashionNot long ago, she sat with her sister, Delilah Belle. “This is my first show for the brand and I’m very proud to be part of this new era.” Indeed, her look was a nod to the future to come: a dress with a dramatic slit and train, high boots and a criss-cross embellished choker—think: part refined Milanese elegance, part rave.
“This collection represents the perfect transition between past and future,” added Emily Ratajkowski, who wore a shimmering silver mini dress on the runway before donning an all-black suit with horsebit detailing for dinner. She was just one of many guests to embrace black throughout the night, which was filled with classic pieces featuring the iconic Double G pattern; merging the future with the already.
Some of the shoes shown on the show paid homage to the fur-lined loafers created by Alessandro Michele, Gucci designer from 2015 to 2022. Michelle sat front row at the show and sat next to Demna at dinner. The designer chose not to sit at the head of the table, a move on Demna’s part. Another obvious Demna gesture? Abandoning his pseudo-intellectual defense of the clothes—a belief he explicitly included in the press notes for the collection. The message seemed to have been received loud and clear. “What this show spoke to me was a certain contemporary irreverence; I felt the same thing here tonight and it made me feel completely at ease,” said actress Isabella Ferrari.
No one can embody this spirit I’m not happyOr as the kids say, IDGAF has more energy than Kate Moss, who not only ended the show with a viral appearance but became the most popular guest at the dinner, welcomed and embraced by all. “She definitely has the charm of a fallen angel,” laughs Alice Pagani.
As for the devil-may-care angels, this new Gucci was also represented by IT girl Sydney Lynn Carlson and rapper Fakemink (who also walked the show), as well as photographer Nadia Lee Cohen and director Aidan Zamiri (who directed Charli XCX). That moment. At dinner, Demi Moore was still making a splash with her headline-grabbing new short hairdo—her long hair is now a gently wavy bob that brushes her jawline. As always, her beloved pilaf remained in her arms during the family-style feast.
Gucci President and CEO Francesca Bellettini said at the beginning of the toast party: “Fight for Gucci life.” Xin Xin!
