The Aussies Take Antibes: Inside Zimmermann’s Summer Escape to the Côte d’Azur

Earlier in the evening, guests arrived at the hotel by boat, having promised there would not be a repeat of last summer’s infamous speedboat trip to Mykonos. As the sky turned candy pink, a glamorous international cast including Jodie Turner-Smith, Poppy Delevingne, Jesse Ware, Gabriella Brooks, Charlotte Rose, Maia Mitchell, Laila George, Blanca Suarez and Anna Shafer blew kisses, giggled and toasted on the pier.

Surprisingly, Suki Waterhouse wore a lace corset paired with a floor-length skirt as she prepared to sing some of her personal favorite hits to the crowd. “This is for all the lovers,” Waterhouse said softly as actor Eiza González crouched in the front row, recording the performance on her phone, while Waterhouse’s sister Maddi captured the performance with her retro video camera.

When the guests returned to their hotel rooms after dinner and dancing, they discovered a copy of Rizzoli’s magnum opus pool party By Jean ‘Johnny’ Pigozzi is mysteriously placed on their pillow. The next day, it all made sense when they accepted an invitation to join Nicky and Simone at Villa Dorane: the 1950s Cap d’Antibes home of a photographer and car heir, for a leisurely lunch and poolside fun.

Basking in the midday sun, people played Jenga in small groups, staked out requests from the all-vinyl DJ booth, and petted the family dogs that ran free in the courtyard. Abby Champion and Cara Taylor, regulars at Zimmermann’s fashion shows and campaigns, even brought their moms, and the two immediately hit it off after realizing they both shared Alabama roots.

It seems to be the summer of salted fish – Chef Guillaume is smart. A long, leisurely Chablis lunch included salad Niçoise, tuna belly and seabass cooked in rock salt with fennel and ratatouille.

After lunch, guests donned their bathing suits and headed to the hotel’s signature pool. In this scene, it rivals a Slim Aarons blockbuster—let’s call it that. Zim Aarons – They spent the next few hours frolicking around, eating pastel-hued sorbets and dancing to Mimi Xu’s music.

Long known as the “father of the celebrity selfie,” Rigozzi, whose photography books have immortalized pool guests including Naomi Campbell, Sharon Stone, Kylie, Elle Macpherson and Bono, has been capturing the action with his waterproof point-and-shoot camera.
