Anderson added: “With Coachella, we saw it as an exchange: a dialogue between her code, her narrative and the brand, creating something slightly original – almost a Dio take on grunge – that worked in harmony with the music while allowing her voice to take center stage.”

The second weekend’s looks, however, were a far cry from couture overalls. Dior created a black turtleneck gown for Anhedönia with a pleated waist and flowing sleeves with organza petals. “The dress felt very much in keeping with Ethel Kane’s original quintessential funeral attire, less narrative and more conceptual,” she said. Anhedönia added a black cyclamen tiara, her version of the colorful florals that adorned Anderson’s first couture collection.
“I would say my favorite detail is the black silk cyclamen flowers on the tiara,” she said. “I was so happy to see a black version designed specifically to match my dress. I already loved the dress from the sketch alone, but the flowers were what really sealed the deal for me.”

While Anhedönia admits, “I don’t get involved in the fashion world that much,” she finds a special kinship with Anderson, whose show she attended in January. “Jonathan and I met, as I do all my favorite people, simply through the love of our craft,” she said. “I did my customary gush about both sides of the Ethel Kane coin, and he got it right away. He’s one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met, and I’m so happy to always have this collaboration to look back on.”
