Awards season is bound to bring a few things: tears on the podium, at least one memorable speech, a slew of bare skirts, and more than a few archive pulls. Last night, celebrities joined their contemporaries in donning their award-winning pieces at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
Take Amal Clooney, for example, wearing a striking cherry-red Balmain gown on the arm of her husband (and one of the evening’s hosts) George Clooney. This shift dress features a sweetheart neckline, an almost fishtail train and ruched draping details from Pierre Balmain’s Fall 1957 Haute Couture collection. This was Clooney’s first Golden Globes appearance in ten years, so Clooney chose a designer she loved and a silhouette she knew would ultimately work for her. (The human rights lawyer and humanitarian loves the nostalgic bombshell aesthetic, often looking for vintage touches in her red carpet and after-party looks: a sweet floral Christian Dior slip dress, a figure-hugging John Galliano gown, and, at the Venice Film Festival, a particularly eye-catching fuchsia taffeta dress by Jean-Louis Scherrer with a billowing train.) The accessories and glam keep everything feeling distinctly Old Hollywood, complete with Jimmy Choo Clutch, Cartier jewelry, and her signature long, deep side-parted hair swept to the side in loose waves.

Jennifer Lopez was one of the most eye-catching figures of the evening in a classic Jean Louis Sherrer Spring 2003 gown, styled by Mariel Haenn. Sourced by Lily et Cie, an antiques dealer specializing in museum-quality 20th and 20th-century fashions, the dress is crafted from a second-skin-like fabric with a sheer bodice, swirling baroque lace embroidery and a gauzy mermaid tail. The building closed permanently in 2013, but remains revered for its French craftsmanship, hand-stoned stonework and striking silhouettes, as showcased on J-Lo. To accentuate the lines of her dress, the actor and pop star wore her hair in a sculptural updo. J-Lo feels this deeply, delighting in the dramatic details of the early ’00s and the modern penchant for ultra-transparent looks.
Marty SupreFor Odessa A’Zion’s recent red carpet tour, she designed her own dress using L’Atelier 7474, and borrowed suiting styles from the nude trend through Marc Jacobs. At the Golden Globes last night, she opted for a retro Dolce & Gabbana outfit that looked part Madonna, part Old Hollywood. The actor wore a puffy black shearling top and black wide-leg trousers, which she paired with leather gloves, reflecting both her love of tailoring and her more sensual side. In a sea of A-line gowns and tulle, this felt like it had a point.

While Armani slays the red carpet, Justine Lupe opted for a modern-looking Armani Privé Fall/Winter 2001 Haute Couture gown. The sheer peach-colored gown is made from sheer, flowy layers of fabric and embellished with delicate shiny appliqués. this no one wants this Star’s long golden hair was also worn in equally sparkling waves.
