Olivia Rodrigo has officially entered a new era, but that doesn’t mean her commitment to every Gen Z’s favorite girly style will go away.
This week, the pop star released “drop dead,” the first single from her upcoming album You look so sad for a girl so in love. Meanwhile, Petra Collins’ video for Versailles riffs on Sofia Coppola Marie Antoinette. It is also full of fashion sense and reference value. Rodrigo, styled by Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo, danced around the palace in a pale blue shirt and bloomers from the Chloé Pre-Fall 2026 collection, while the late, great Jane Birkin on screen wore a pearl-encrusted mini dress.
Rodrigo appeared at Feel Karaoke in Los Angeles to celebrate the product launch. She wore a custom pastel pink babydoll dress by designer Jane Doe: this mini dress features a sweet crew neck and a pink tulle slip. On her feet were white knee-high socks and patent silver double-strap Miu Miu pumps. She also carried a spiked black shoulder bag from the Rixo x Dragon Diffusion collaboration, which added some edges to the otherwise cute look.

Babydoll dresses are Olivia Rodrigo’s signature. This sartorial formula of a babydoll, socks and heels combination is repeated on her new album cover art, where she wears a retro Peter Pan collar version and Kurt Gig Mary Jane pumps. In another promotional video, she also wears a pastel-pink cap-sleeve mini dress from Ciao Lucia in a similar style, paired with pointy socks and Gucci Mary Jane platform pumps. It’s an interesting and quite bold style decision for a celebrity to repeat the same exact fit in a slightly different font, so it’s common to expect a different look at every step of the promotional tour. But so far, it’s a winner for Rodrigo: The pop star is so Very She is confident in her personal style and has firmly established her new era without compromising.
