On the eve of the launch of their 2027 resort collection “Shape Shifter”, sisters-in-law Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard are preparing to name their first Paris branch (and 50th store worldwide) on the famous rue François I. What better way to visit the City of Lights than to see the products that fill the tweed collection?
This latest offering joins Paris’ ongoing noble efforts to breathe new life into aged fabrics. Veronica Beard’s proposal? Wear it on an oversized white jacket and casual shorts, both with black contrast piping; a set of miniskirts with gold collars; and pointed-toe ballet flats with rounded leather toes.
Still, there are plenty of Veronica Beard staples in the collection, namely their signature dickey, something Parisian women have long been deprived of. “Dickies are important to them and to us because they don’t have them right now,” explains Miele Beard. “So we’re going to make a statement there.” Instead of a sporty hoodie, Resort 2027 offers an oversized knit scarf that knots at the neck.
But Veronica Beard isn’t letting American sportswear fall by the wayside this season. Take, for example, the electric blue chore jacket in technical twill. “We love the subtle sheen it has—it feels a little like taffeta,” says Swanson Beard. The outerwear is strong in every way, finding a great balance as it meets the brand’s European aspirations while staying true to its American roots. The highlight is the reversible funnel-neck jacket, which allows the wearer to vacillate between classic khaki and bold houndstooth with equally bold cobalt flecks. A little remark, if you will – we are in Veronica Beard’s Paris.
