Where else could Chloë Sevigny and DJ Pauly D sit next to each other at a Knicks game but on the sideline?
The “Celebrity Row,” a coveted and equally eye-catching group of seats, is as star-studded as Paris Fashion Week is today. And, even though Madison Square Garden’s VIP area is often decked out in blue and orange, it’s still a pretty stylish place.
Take Sevigny, a die-hard Knicks fan whose courtside attire includes knee-high socks, a 2009 Cannes Film Festival hat, leopard-print bell-bottoms, and even vibrant team merchandise. In The Row’s early days, public seating was also favored by the ultra-private Olsens. Back in 2004, they were loudly cheering for the Knicks, bracelets jingling every time they clapped.
More than anything, the courtside photos were a trip down memory lane in style. Early on, Hilary Swank paired dresses with trousers, while Beyoncé tucked jeans into baggy boots. And, lest anyone forget the 2010s’ love for neon, faux leather leggings, and chokers, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Zendaya reminded us with their game-day looks.
In honor of the Knicks’ first trip to the NBA Finals in 27 years, we’re taking a look back at some of the best courtside moments over the years, from Paris Hilton’s denim miniskirt to Alexa Chung’s anti-sportswear to Kylie Jenner’s Knicks fan style.
