With the 2026 Met Gala “Art of Costume” less than three weeks away, we’re waiting with bated breath to see attendees grace the steps of the Met. Most notable are our esteemed co-chairs Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams, who will all be putting their best spin on the evening’s dress code of “Fashion is Art.”
We have a little habit of sharing our red carpet wish lists. Think of them only as examples or suggestions for your dream look. So we did the same thing for our 2026 Met Gala co-chairs.
With themes as broad as “The Art of Costume,” which focuses on bodies worn from the Met’s extensive collection, inspiration abounded on the catwalk. Perhaps the co-hosts could incorporate the Rococo and Baroque art movements into some opulent works from the archives of Christian Lacroix, or lean into a campy interpretation of Moschino. Or they could reference a specific painter, such as Yves Saint Laurent’s ode to Picasso or Dilara Fundecoglou’s tribute to Sandro Botticelli.
Co-hosts can also tend to Body All this. While there are plenty of see-through outfits to choose from, fashion has a long history of distorting proportions, from Comme des Garçon’s “lumps and bubbles” collection from 1997 to Schiaparelli’s body looks from fall 2025. The anatomical body also comes into play: look at Olivier Theyskens’ base pieces and Rokh’s hands-on designs.
Here, 21 looks we’d like to see Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams wear at the 2026 Met Gala.
