I’m notorious for obsessing over fake pop culture news I’ve seen on X via accounts like “Poo Crave” (and, more often than I’d like, putting said news into FashionSlack comment: “Should we override this?”). So when I read that Cate Blanchett would play Martha Stewart in an upcoming biopic directed by Janicza Bravo, I thought I was being ripped off again. The idea of Blanchett playing Stewart was just Very good Made me believe this could actually happen. But, you see, type The project’s existence was officially confirmed on Tuesday.
I would watch Blanchett play almost anyone but White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt (not that I don’t think carol the star will be amazing But there’s one particularly special part about this legend-to-legend connection, and that’s Blanchett donning Stewart’s classy, garden-party-ready loafers.

The film’s working title is nice oneI can only pray that it at least works with Marthais RJ Cutler’s 2024 documentary about the family goddess-turned-billionaire, in which Stewart confesses about infidelity in her first marriage and hits us with this iconic Dutch proverb: “If you want to be happy for a day, get drunk. If you want to be happy for a year, get married. But if you want to be happy forever, plant a garden.” Like… can you? imagine Did Blanchett say those immortal words? Because I absolutely can!
