The 2026 Met Gala is almost here, and this year’s co-chairs include Nicole Kidman, Beyoncé, and Venus Williams (as well as countless other celebrities slated to grace the red carpet as guests). While one can only guess at what they will wear to the gala event — and more importantly, how they will interpret this year’s theme and dress code, “Fashion is Art” — one can make an educated guess based on their fashionable cosmopolitan history.
Take Kidman, for example. She has attended the Met Gala six times and has developed a few Met Gala signatures over the years. Classic Hollywood glamor is usually her style. The Oscar-winning actor first attended the Met in 2003, when she co-chaired the show in a figure-hugging one-shoulder Gucci gown by Tom Ford, embellished with sparkling crystals. In 2005, she served as co-chair again, this time wearing a navy strapless Chanel piece with black beading.
In recent years, however, Kidman has upped the drama, debuting more dramatic gowns. At the 2023 Met Gala, the star re-dressed in a pink silk tulle Chanel gown embellished with ostrich feathers that she first wore in the 2003 Baz Luhrmann-directed Chanel No. 5 campaign. (We love self-references.) Last year, Kidman went retro again, wearing a reimagining of a 1952 Balenciaga sculptural gown.
What will Kidman wear this year? Only time will tell, but based on her previous fashion choices, this is definitely the stuff of the A-lister. In anticipation of the first Monday in May, revisit all of Kidman’s Met Gala looks below.
