Kate Middleton Dressed the Part to Meet the Red Roses Rugby Team

January can be a notoriously gloomy time. Arctic temperatures, constant rainfall, the list goes on. However, there are some surefire ways to shake off the January blues, as Kate Middleton showed this afternoon when she opted for a crimson tailoring to welcome the red roses of England to Windsor Castle. Last year, to celebrate England’s women’s team winning the Rugby World Cup, the Princess of Wales hosted the players as Patron of Rugby League and followed their progress throughout the tournament.

To celebrate the occasion, Kate pulled off one of her most reliable styles, choosing a bright red Alexander McQueen suit that paid homage to the team’s red and white jerseys. She’s no stranger to sharp tailoring, wearing an olive green power suit last year and more recently a tried-and-true burgundy Roland Mouret look for a meeting with Prince William at London’s Charing Cross Hospital.

A staunch advocate of the royal family’s re-dressing, the princess’s Alexander McQueen suit will be a familiar sight to eagle-eyed royal watchers, having previously been worn during King Charles’ coronation weekend in 2023. As well as her sustainability credentials, the princess is also known for her love of sport, with her role as patron of rugby league bringing her sporting style into the spotlight.
