Hoyeon has spent a lot of life in the spotlight—from being a top runway model (and Fashion cover star), to a full-on television star (you may have discovered her squid game or Disclaimer). But now, the Korean star is ready to enter the next exciting phase of her career: movie stardom.
At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Hoyeon attended a photo shoot and screening of the new thriller directed by Na Hong Jin hopein which she starred alongside Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander. “I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to showcase my new film at such a global film festival,” said Hoyeon. “And there are audiences from all over the world who really love movies.”
exist hope“Hoyeon” stars Sung-ae, a rookie police officer who joins forces with the police chief (played by Hwang Jung-min) to defeat a mysterious monster that wreaks havoc on a Korean village. “Working on hope “This is one of the experiences I’m most attached to,” Hoyeon said of the new acting challenge. “I put a lot of time and effort into preparing for this role, probably the most preparation I’ve ever done in my career.”
Hyun is no stranger to action scenes though – she famously played Kang Sae-Bik fighting for her life in “Kang Sae-Bik”. squid game– She admitted that she trained for hope Take things to a whole new level. (Being an action star, it turns out, is no easy task.) “To perform the action scenes in the movie, I spent about five to six months training before filming started,” Hoyeon said. “I went through physical training, firearms training, obtained a manual driving license, and learned various car action skills. Because I performed most of the action scenes myself. I hope the audience can really feel the tension, energy and sincerity I bring to the character.”
One of her favorite memories on set? Filming an intensive action sequence involving driving a high-speed car required her to overcome a significant psychological hurdle. “I felt a lot of stress and anxiety about whether I could actually achieve this goal,” Hoyeon said. “Several crew members kept feeding me notes about safety checks and technical details, so my head was filled with so much information that I started to lose focus. But then Hwang Jung-min, who was sitting next to me in the passenger seat, simply said, ‘Believe in yourself.’ The moment he said that, like magic, my mind suddenly became completely clear.” (Fun fact: They ended up getting this scene on the first take.)
