Even at just 14 years old, Emma Beiles Howie has an eye for immortalizing the best in someone. At the time, she was taking photos of her sisters at home in Colorado with a film camera their mother had won at a town sale. These days, she’s on speed dial to capture typical GRWM (Get Ready With Me) shots. In fact, if you follow some of today’s most popular stars, who are always perfectly dressed and headed to one glamorous party or another, you’ve probably seen Howie’s work online.
“My sisters always say I make them feel beautiful, which is what really made me want to do photography forever,” says Beiles Howie Fashion. “I’ve been doing this part-time since I was a teenager, but I never thought I’d be able to do it full-time.”
Sadly, one fateful photoshoot of Blackpink’s Rosé during Paris Fashion Week 2021 has kept her booked and busy ever since. “Rosé organically posted my work and then asked me to shoot it in New York. Those photos definitely changed my career. It was not long after I met stylist Yael Quint. We started working together and that was by far the biggest turning point for me. She is also now one of my best friends.”
Earlier this week, Beiles Howie was hard at work preparing for her fourth Met Monday appearance. Before walking the red carpet, she took on the ambitious task of photographing five guests as they walked out the door. The job requires precise scheduling and marathon-ready shoes.
“I get nervous every year. Things never go as expected, especially timing-wise, but everything works out in the end,” Beiles Howie shared, noting that each time is still a “pinch me moment.” “One of my clients ran for 30 minutes, but my next two clients were in rooms next to each other, so it still worked out.”
