Hotels and resorts appear to be taking note of travellers’ interest. Mii Amo is a standout in the field with its dark skies, location in an energy vortex, and deep roots in mental health, but it’s certainly not the only property tapping into the full moon trend. Just 30 minutes from Scottsdale, Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa hosts the Heavenly Wheel Series, an immersive gathering that includes guided yoga nidra meditation designed to help guests understand the cycles of the moon. “We chose to offer Full Moon products because the lunar cycle represents renewal, reflection and natural rhythms, which are core principles of holistic wellness,” said Jessica Rosas, wellness manager at Camelback Mountain Sanctuary Resort and Spa. “Tian Yuan allows our community to come together in natural cycles and create a shared ritual that supports nervous system recovery, intention setting and emotional balance.”
Across destinations, full moon events are as diverse as the night sky—from curated menus to spa treatments to rituals commemorating long-standing spiritual practices—creating touchpoints for travelers, no matter how well-versed in astrology or astronomy they may be.
With the increased energy brought about by the full moon, it’s no surprise that many of these rituals are rooted in movement. For example, the Aquaterra Spa at Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California, hosts monthly Full Moon Yoga, inviting guests to practice mindful movement, breathing and intention setting, all to the rhythm of crashing waves. At Mii Amo’s sister hotel Enchantment in Sedona, guests can sign up for a Full Moon Hike, which involves hiking through Boynton Canyon at sunset as the moon rises above the red rocks before being guided back to the hotel by bright moonlight.
Other full moon experiences are more celebratory, such as the Howl Full Moon event, which takes place monthly at the iconic Hotel California in Santa Barbara, California. Every full moon, the hotel’s Djinn Bar transforms into a vibrant party with vinyl DJs, signature cocktails inspired by that month’s phases, and personalized tarot or rune readings. “Howl is conceived as an immersive ritual. Its purpose is to create a recurring moment of collective energy where guests and locals come together to pause, celebrate and reconnect under a shared celestial experience,” said Giovanni Prada, vice president of marketing for California Hotels. What’s more, “As a coastal hotel between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains, Hotel California is deeply attuned to the rhythms of nature. The full moon, with its effects on the tides and atmosphere, provided a dramatic and meaningful backdrop. It allowed us to base the show on something organic rather than man-made.”
In fact, Ross noted that traveling to destinations near water can be particularly impactful because the full moon affects tides. She even recommends bringing a small (TSA-sized, of course) container to collect some moonshine water to take home if possible.
The Greek resort of Cape Sounio is filled with magic by the water all year round, but especially during the full moon – welcoming you for a night swim in the Aegean Sea, easily accessible from its private beach. The hotel also just launched “13 Full Moons of 2026,” a year-long celestial theme with curated experiences based on each phase of the cycle. Here, guests can watch the full moon rise behind the ancient Temple of Poseidon, one of Greece’s most important landmarks.
