Similar to next year’s color schemes, which are all calm, pastel hues, the biggest nail art trends of 2026 are expected to be more subtle in design. That’s not to give up the fun and creativity that comes with textures and 3D decals. (Minimalists, you can breathe a sigh of relief now.) Instead, we’re being asked to be more thoughtful in the nail art we choose.
“The whole vibe of 2026 is high simplicity,” says celebrity manicurist Kim Truong. “People want their nails to feel clean, luxurious and designed, but not overly decorated.”
If you haven’t already, expect to see preppy plaid patterns and classic velvet nails popping up everywhere. Textile-inspired nail looks are also set to push the boundaries of what we expect textured nails to look and feel like, thanks to our favorite fashion shows (Chanel, Margiela, and Schiaparelli, to name a few).
Here are the top seven nail art trends you’ll see in 2026. Scroll down to feel inspired (and excited) for the new year.

Inspired by our current obsession with argyle knits and all things Ralph Lauren, plaid manicures are taking over our mainstream in late 2025. If you’ve been loving this trend, the good news is that it’s here to stay. Celebrity manicurist and Kiss Nails and ImPress Beauty brand ambassador Gina Edwards predicts that more preppy manicure designs will be popular next year, especially those with plaid and diamond patterns that are already all the rage. Look how fun these jelly plaid nails are. Created by celebrity manicurist Zola Ganzorigt for Kylie Jenner, it gives a fun twist to the preppy look.
