When it comes to mastering the art of the travel wardrobe, it’s no surprise that our favorite fashion insiders also moonlight as packing experts. In My Packing Style, we asked some of the most well-traveled people we know to take a look at their travel bags and vacation wardrobes to see how they channel their style on the road. You’ve bookmarked this trip, you’ve taken screenshots of the outfits; now, see how it all comes together.
Until recently, Laila Gohar was strictly a walk-on girl. “That included a month-long trip I took to Europe,” she said. “But I’ve relaxed a little bit. My boyfriend always says I travel like a bag lady.” Her travel companions include, but are not limited to: a rolling suitcase, a purse, a tote, and a bag of various collectibles she has collected during her travels. Now, she’s simplifying her life by bringing a checked suitcase with her when she needs it. Her trip to Italy for the Salone del Mobile (also known as Milan Design Week) was certainly necessary—the artist, designer and co-founder of Gohar World is heading to Italy this week to launch a capsule collection for Arket.
“It’s a capsule that’s essentially my summer uniform, the pieces that I wear regularly and that I rotate when I travel,” she said of the collection, which officially launches today. In preparation for her trip to Milan, she packed her checked bag with some new pieces and some favorites, and this was a silver Rimowa that fit perfectly. “Even so, it’s not cramped or difficult to close. I’m a minimalist with what I own, and even my wardrobe at home isn’t that big,” Gohar explains.
