Swatch x Guggenheim Releases Watches Inspired by Pollock, Degas, Monet, and Klee

Swiss watch company Swatch is the latest brand to partner with a major museum to collect products. On Thursday, the company announced the launch of the Swatch x Guggenheim Collection, which includes watches from the collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Artists on display include Edgar Degas, Paul Klee, Claude Monet and Jackson Pollock.

These works are the latest in a large-scale art journey series launched by Swatch in 2023. As part of the series, the company collaborates with institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the estate of Rene Magritte, and more. Swatch has also collaborated with the Guggenheim since the 1990s.

The works mentioned in the collection released Thursday are by Degas green and yellow dancer (1903), by Monet Palazzo Ducale seen from San Giorgio Maggiore (1908), Klee Don Juan of Bavaria (1919) and Pollock’s alchemy (1947).

“The artworks were selected after close dialogue with the New York and Venice curatorial teams,” Stover said. “Each piece was selected for its emotional impact, its significance within the Guggenheim collection, and its ability to be meaningfully transformed into the intimate form of a watch.”
