Just Browsing: The Ultimate Summer-in-the-City Wardrobe at Posse

There are so many fashion products available online that after first seeing them on the small screen, it can be refreshing to try them on in-store. Enter just to browse: we’ll take you into the fitting rooms to preview the latest collections from some of our favorite brands. When we walk into the shop, we’ll discuss fabrics and quality, fit and feel, and more. Happy scrolling (and wandering)!

There are five blocks in the West Village, and the main goal isn’t to stroll or line up for half an hour for a slice of pizza. Come for shopping This quaint little stretch of Bleecker Street attracts the epitome of a fine selection of shops, such as Dôen and Leset, which you’ll recognize for being mainly online; for many, their proximity to each other is a glimmer of hope on a crowded Saturday afternoon when having to squeeze in with idle tourists.

Anyone who has spent any time in the area recently has surely caught a glimpse of an exciting new addition: the Posse. Founded in 2016 by Danielle Mulham, the Australian brand known for its simple linen and cotton separates has established roots in the United States, with its flagship boutique located in the heart of the region.

This jewel-box-like space is everything you could imagine from a brand that creates wardrobes in a timeless and quietly romantic way. Louis Rambert, the French interior designer behind Kallmeyer’s elegant Upper East Side hideout and Beverly’s Orchard St. outpost, infused the space with layered warmth, pairing vintage décor with custom furnishings like wall sconces made from Fortuny fabric and iron-wrought tools upholstered in colorful tapestry-like textiles. Antique black and white stone floors come straight from France.

I was one of the first lucky people to visit Posse on its opening day, May 10th. When you walk into the store, you’ll be greeted by a lush floral display in the window. Inside, it’s equally bright and inviting, with a huge selection of core pieces to try out, as well as key styles from the spring collection. Little Easter eggs are scattered throughout, like bright knitwear in an alcove, a fringed sash on a faded antique dresser, and a variety of woven baskets from Underwater Weaving—colors that complement the spring collection. There are even some exclusive products from the Moda Operandi La Isla capsule collection. If only all my Mondays could start here.
