We think part of the appeal of being a celebrity is the global adoration and sea of nameless fans that come with fame. There’s an unimaginable excitement you’ll feel knowing that there are thousands, if not millions, of people obsessed with your work. But one has to wonder. . . Have you ever been a star? Star To other stars? (Meta!) Do A-listers lose their minds over seeing other A-listers? How does this work?
A quick trip down memory lane proves the answer is yes. To prove their celebrity admiration, many celebrities step out in a cheeky T-shirt to proudly express their love for each other.
Just this week, for example, Chloë Sevigny wore a T-shirt bearing the face of actress Hannah Einbinder while out and about in New York. One forever cool girl supporting another current cool girl? You just love seeing it –especially Because Hollywood loves pitting women against each other. On that note: Can someone get Sevigny and Einbinder to star in a movie together? Is this too much to ask – do we achieve For the stars here?
This high-profile fan presence has also continued over the past three decades. For example, back in 2000, Madonna went through a serious phase where she wore bedazzled T-shirts emblazoned with the names of pop icons like Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue. (There’s nothing better than a stamp of approval from the Queen of Pop.) In 2010, supermodel Claudia Schiffer also showed support for her fellow superstar, Naomi Campbell, by wearing one of her T-shirts at a Dolce & Gabbana event.
There’s even the saga of Ryan Gosling wearing a Macaulay Culkin T-shirt in 2014; in response, Culkin wore a Gosling T-shirt, a Culkin T-shirt; then Gosling wore a Culkin T-shirt, a Gosling T-shirt, a Culkin T-shirt, and so on.
