Blurred Lips Are Trending, but Gigi Hadid Proves the Power of This Vintage Lip

What are the lip trends for 2026? The lips must be blurred. But Gigi Hadid is proving that a powerful, defiant cupid’s bow can be both glamorous and timeless.

Last night, Hadid attended the 2026 Breakthrough Awards wearing a figure-hugging crystal white David Koma gown embellished with Anayam London jewelry. The dress features a halter neck with silver coins and a sculpted bodice that falls into a contoured skirt. The glamor accentuated the classic, retro vibe thanks to Hadid’s longtime friends and glamor team, makeup artist Patrick Ta and hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos.

“For lips, I always choose a shade that complements my blush so the overall look feels harmonious,” Ta shares Fashion. “Here, I chose a shade four to five shades darker than her natural lip color. I usually start by finding a lip liner that reflects the natural undertone of the lips, then adjust the depth up or down depending on the effect I want.” The end result is reminiscent of screen sirens like Marlene Dietrich, with a retro silhouette blended into a contemporary nude. The rest of Hadid’s look leaned toward her and Tower’s signatures: bright highlight, warm blush, soft bronzed contouring, plus feline flicks and fluttering lashes to elongate the eyes.

Giannetos also shared how he achieves vintage-style “big, bouncy, angelic” curls. The key to styling, he says, is preparation. “I form my hair into little curls and then trim them until they’re cool,” he explains. “I then used a large paddle brush to comb through my hair and comb all the hair back for a more vintage effect. I parted my hair in the middle and pinned the sides up, leaving some face-framing section.” Earlier this week, Hadid swapped out her shaggy bob for extra-long length, with a C-shaped blunt cut that now falls to her chest, thanks to Giannetos. With all this hair accentuating its flaxen and darker tones, last night’s hairstyle was super stylish and sophisticated.
