Sarah Staudinger grew up in the ’90s, so it’s no surprise that she’s obsessed with that golden era. It also enjoyed a timely resurgence, especially with the release of Ryan Murphy love story. While there were no direct references to Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in Staudinger’s fall collection, she did take some of the biggest trends of the era and revive them for 2026. “Fall usually feels very restrained to me, so in this collection we’re pushing color and unexpected combinations through looks and shapes,” says Staudinger. “The collection has a very ’90s feel to it, with clashing prints, really effortless silhouettes, and pieces that feel collectible rather than overly fashionable.”
Slips and skirts were mixed materials, with poplin “underwear” like belts on top and silk powerspun for the rest. Minimalist coats were all the rage in the ’90s, and Staudinger has launched a tan lambskin coat that’ll see the wearer through the next year or two.
Staudinger had experimented with minimalism before. In past series she may have focused too much on simplicity of everything and not so much on fun (which she’s known for), but this season she was able to combine the two. Animal prints are a staple of the Staud collection, and this season’s star animal is the porcupine. Instead of incorporating porcupine in such an obvious way as usual, Staudinger tried a cheeky approach with porcupine jackets, scarves and accessories, dyed with faux fur and printed with a feathery texture.
