Greta Lee on Jonathan Anderson’s Dior Couture Debut: “I’m in Shock and So Deeply Moved”

Paris is a paradise for dreamers, and Greta Lee is one of them. When allotted some free time in Paris, Lee told Fashion, “I walk and dream. Then I eat bread.” But there’s no time for all that today, as Lee is in town for Jonathan Anderson’s first Dior couture show.

Let the actor (Dior ambassador) prepare a style for the occasion: a fresh runway look. “I’m wearing Look 2 from Jonathan’s latest menswear collection, which I just walked in a few days ago. I absolutely love it,” Lee said, referring to an acid green sequined vest and white jeans inspired by 1920s Poiret dresses. “Very Porepunk. Very Jonathan.”

Lee and Anderson’s history extends far beyond his tenure at the French brand. Their friendship dates back to Anderson’s days at Loewe, when Lee would often sit in the front row and wear his gowns on the red carpet. (He also designed her first Met Gala dress in 2024.) For Lee, witnessing her old friend’s first fashion show was a landmark moment. “I’m so excited to be in Jonathan’s first fashion show. It’s an incredible achievement. He’s making history. And he’s doing it exactly his way,” she said. “Being able to see it all – that’s how you experience couture in a salon. This show was absolute heaven. I was shocked and deeply moved.”

As one of Anderson’s muses (she debuted his Dior looks at the 2025 Venice Film Festival), Lee is sure to have future red carpet looks in mind. As a diplomat, however, it was difficult for her to choose a favorite. “It’s impossible to choose. But since you forced me to pick one,” she joked, “that ornately sculpted ball dress is hand-sewn with feathers that look like seashells or seashells that look like feathers.” The night before the show, Anderson showed Lee a preview of the collection, but she left out the details of her favorite look. “Please forgive me, Jonathan,” she said. “Now, of course, I don’t remember.”

As a fan and friend, Lee thinks the dress “perfectly embodies what I love about his point of view. There’s something supremely powerful and powerful about its construction, almost like a piece of combat armor. However, there’s also a lot of fragility and fragility because of the material and the way it moves,” she said. “And pockets! How glorious!”
