Burberry Brings the British Spirit (And Blue Check) to Hôtel Belles Rives

previous home the great gatsby This author and famous Art Deco hotel has overlooked the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea since the 1920s and has seen Picasso, Ernest Hemingway and the Kennedy family summer in Antibes over the years. On any sunny and breezy day in this famous resort town, you’ll see water skiers jumping on the rough seas (Juan-les-Pins is considered the birthplace of the sport), stylish old ladies carrying shopping bags and teacup-sized dogs through the bustling town, and ice cream scoops of every color.

But starting today, and throughout the summer and into September, Belles Rives hotels will welcome you with a British spirit as Burberry and creative director Daniel Lee bring traditional house style to the beach club and terrace. After checking in, I rode the historic original elevator (clad in Burberry plaid) to my gorgeously outfitted room, and after donning a Hunza G x Burberry pleated bikini (and matching scrunchie), I set out for the sun-drenched terrace and long wooden pier. Here, sun loungers and parasols feature navy prints, and the ‘Burberry Cap d’Antibes’ logo adorns the perimeter of the pier. (Fascinating details have historically tied the estate and the British brand together: This is where Fitzgerald began writing his final novel Tenderness is the nightin which his protagonist wears a Burberry jacket. )

It was a wonderful afternoon eating Tuna Niçoise while admiring the panoramic view, and then cooling off with Burberry popsicles. Friends and guests of the brand also enjoyed themselves, chatting and reading in bikinis and buckled tank tops from the Summer 2026 collection, with plaid raffia bags at their feet. Later this summer, Burberry will host a series of experiences here, including water skiing. But, at least for the first few days, it’s all about soaking up the sun.
