Like first love, everyone remembers their first Met Gala. For Daisy Edgar-Jones, during her first appearance at the Met in 2022, three things stood out: her feelings (“I’m so happy to be taking this on”), Sarah Jessica Parker’s hooded headdress by famed milliner Phillip Treacy (“[It was] The craziest, coolest thing”) and didn’t arrange for her to arrive with a trusted friend so they could walk in together.
“I remember arriving at the carpet very early and wanting to meet my friend there, but he was late,” Edgar Jones told me with a laugh as she recounted the story to me via Zoom the day before the first Monday in May. “So I ended up standing at the entrance, like I was welcoming people into the Met.”
today, tornado The star will be making her third appearance at the 2026 Met Gala — almost like a pro! — and her excitement for fashion’s biggest night is still palpable. Edgar-Jones and her stylist Danny Mitchell spent months sending each other references about corsets and corsets, trying to figure out how to honor the female body in a way that felt artistic and noble. McQueen, designed by Sean McGirr, felt like a natural choice to do all of these things.
“They are so iconic,” Edgar Jones said of the legendary fashion house. “They are really good at playing with the tension between beauty and destruction. This design explores [the idea that] Structure and vulnerability can coexist. The actor’s custom McQueen Fall 2026 sculptural dress was made from ivory silk georgette and floral heritage lace, featuring intricate three-dimensional Lyon lace appliqués and stunning shredded tulle Banshee embroidery. Edgar Jones described it as a “rough” and “unfinished” torn fabric, which summed up the theme perfectly. “It felt like it really respected the idea of clothing, art and fashion,” she said. To complete the look, she wore Boucheron ’s jewelry—Laurel earrings, Silhouette bracelet, and Silhouette brooch, to be exact—serve as key pieces.
Estee Lauder
When it comes to beauty matching the vibe, only her longtime glam team Joe Baker and Bryce Scarlett, as well as new Estee Lauder products with Edgar Jones as spokesperson, can do it. “We wanted to keep the London ‘cool girl next door’ vibe where she puts on a dress and doesn’t really think about her makeup,” says Baker Fashion. “We went for classic and cool, not too sophisticated or too precise.”
Baker used Estée Lauder’s new, yet-to-be-released Essential Eyeshadow Stick in Sugar Plum, a soft taupe shade set to launch in June, to create hollow, moody eyes. To achieve a “raw” and “girl-next-door” look, she used ORA Method LED Guasha to sculpt her cheeks, combining it with Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess 01 Bronzing Power and Futurist BlushMaker Dewy Cheek Tints (Stolen Glance and Skinny Dip shades) for a natural-looking flush.
