The morning of the wedding was a bit like a fever dream. A lot of anticipation, planning, and money goes into making this one of the most memorable days of your life, so actually experiencing it is a little surreal.
Despite all my preparation, I didn’t think too much about what would happen back I left the safety of the Celia Burton makeup chair and headed to the ceremony, then the reception, dinner and party. Considering how meticulously she did my makeup, surely my face would stay perfect? Because Celia always thinks three steps ahead, she stuffed an SOS beauty kit into my bridal bag when she sent me off—a sweet but tiny Anya Hindmarch horseshoe number.

Realizing that I might need more than just the glow of happiness, I also threw some of my own non-negotiable products out there. (My sister asked if she could put her phone in there too. Well, no.)
Here, a peek inside my tiny bridal bag.

Hourglass Phantom Micro-Plumbing Glow Cream
I have the kind of face that can’t take off lipstick. I’m not looking for praise; It just looks bad. I can use tinted gloss, though, and never be more than six centimeters away from my beloved Micro Gloss Cream. It is a warm pinkish brown shade that applies like a lip balm but with a glossy finish. It’s your own lips, but better—especially if your natural lip color is more taupe or brown.
Glossy Lip Liner Enhancement Pencil (Light Yellow)
If you haven’t heard the term “nipple matching” in connection with lip liner, now you have. Glossier uses lips and nipples to find the closest match, a clever way to find a range of sheer nude shades. Buff is a soft “toasted almond” shade that transforms into a warm, mid-toned brown. Celia and I tried a few before settling on it, deciding that both “Bit” and “Grip” sounded too pink for my liking. Wearing it makes any post-meal touch-up a breeze.
