Bermuda Travel Guide: Where to Stay, Eat, and What to Do

When planning a beach vacation, deciding where to stay, what to eat, and what to do are important parts of the planning process. For me, warm weather, beautiful beaches, fresh fish (best enjoyed on a beautiful beach) and welcoming locals are a must. Enter: Bermuda.

One of the most beautiful islands you’ll ever visit is a quick flight from most east coast cities. Famous for its pink sand beaches, Bermuda is more than just a place to sip a pina colada or a Dark ‘n Stormy. Bermuda is one of the oldest British colonies with a long history and tradition. Downtown Hamilton is filled with bright colors and unique local shops (remember: Bermuda is the home of Bermuda shorts) and restaurants to pop in and sample the local cuisine.

With a surge in millennial tourists from the UK and US, Bermuda has a lot to offer. For some, it’s the island’s seven lush golf courses; for others, it’s snorkeling along vibrant coral reefs and shallow shipwrecks. For me, a rejuvenating weekend away (with the help of Vogue’s Global Spa Guide ) is just what the doctor ordered. That said, the island is also a great place for the whole family, offering plenty of activities for all ages.

Where to stay

If you’re looking for the ultimate getaway, Rosewood Bermuda has it all. Located in Tucker’s Town, the second home of many celebrities, Rosewood features a vast secluded beach, great privacy, four swimming pools, several restaurants, tennis courts and pickleball courts for paddle enthusiasts, and on-site childcare so parents can enjoy some leisure time on their own. With just 88 rooms, the hotel has the feel of a small hotel with the amenities of a large resort.

Be sure to check out the Pan Am Sky Club mural inside the Island Brasserie restaurant. The 80-foot-long mural covering the entire restaurant is a piece of history. Originally located in New York’s Pan Am Building (now MetLife), it was commissioned by Juan Trippe in 1965. The mural, painted by Hong Kong resident Gerard D’Alton Henderson, depicts various ports of call for clippers and whalers in the mid-19th century. In 2005, the mural was transported piece by piece to Tucker’s Point Hotel & Spa, now the Rosewood Bermuda.

You can store your luggage at the Rosedon Hotel, a historic stately home just a short walk from Hamilton’s capital city that has been run by the same family for three generations. The luxurious Relais & Châteaux hotel has renovated 40 rooms while retaining its lovely old-fashioned charm (male staff wear Bermuda shorts and knee socks, and traditional English tea is served every afternoon).
