Victoria Beckham’s first exposure to Gap dates back to the early 1990s, when she was a teenager exploring high street stores in the UK. “It felt distinctly American and fresh and unlike anything else at the time,” she told us Fashion. “That image stuck with me.” Decades and many fashion history moments later, the designer, fashion icon and Spice Girls legend is releasing her own 38-piece collaboration with Gap. The first of a multi-season collaboration, Beckham takes classic Gap looks and infuses them with her chic, simple, detailed and always tailored aesthetic.
The new collection is rooted in elevated everyday pieces that overlap with Beckham’s aesthetic and Gap’s most popular styles. Think: fleece suits, khakis, T-shirts and a variety of denim, complete with subtle details like Victoria Beckham’s red stitched VB logo. Signature hoodies, blazers and jeans with a hint of Gap’s 80s and 90s retro style are key pieces. Common Gap logo hoodies and T-shirts have been redesigned to feature the Victoria Beckham logo.
Beckham’s style has been influential over the years, whether it’s the black mini dresses and bra tops from Tom Ford’s Gucci days or his red carpet looks with David Beckham in the early 2000s. When she launched her eponymous fashion label in 2008, she dove headfirst into bodycon dresses and lace gowns, eventually developing the sharply tailored aesthetic that defines her style today.
“Denim was a natural starting point because it’s such a big part of Gap’s heritage,” Beckham shared. “We explored more sculptural shapes, with pieces that are both modern and timeless. The color palette is clean and considered, built around a neutral base with deliberate moments of color—bright blues and deep purples that almost read like modern neutrals.” Art also plays a big role: “Much of it Inspiration came from contemporary art, especially works from the Fisher family collection – Gerhard Richter’s Two Candles, with its warm earthy tones, and Agnes Martin’s Night Sea, with its beautiful and expressive blue, inspiring the pop of blue in the collection,” she added.
Shot by Mert Alaş and Marcus Piggott, directed by Troy Tyler, with creative direction by Isaac Lock and styling by fashion image consultant Alastair McKimm, the campaign features models Mica Argañaraz and Lina Zhu wearing scaled-down Canadian tuxedo suits, logo T-shirts and olive green utility jackets. “My brand has always been built around modern wardrobe essentials, creating quality pieces that truly make women look and feel their best,” she said. “Gap’s values are very similar to mine, rooted in timeless pieces and an intuitive understanding of what women wear in real life. This is reflected in the Gap x Victoria Beckham collection, whether it’s the perfect pair of jeans, a tailored trench coat or a casual T-shirt.”
