Manila – A majority of Filipinos (69%) support an impeachment trial for Vice President Sara Duterte, according to OCTA Research’s 2026 Tugon ng Masa Survey.
Meanwhile, 28% said they did not support the trial and 3% were undecided.
“Among major geographic regions, support for an impeachment trial is highest in the Visayas (83 percent) and the National Capital Region (81 percent), followed by Luzon (69 percent),” the survey report released on Wednesday said.
Mindanao is said to be the jurisdiction of the vice president, with the lowest support rate at 61% and the highest opposition rate at 38%.
Support is highest among Filipinos aged 18 to 24 (77%), followed by those aged 35 to 44 (73%).
Support among respondents aged 45 to 54 was lower (60%), the lowest of any age group.
Respondents aged 75 and above have a relatively high favorability rating of 71%.
“Support for an impeachment trial is higher in rural areas (75%) than in urban areas (63%),” the report said.
“Broken down by gender, support among female respondents (70%6) is slightly higher than among male respondents (68%),” the report added.
In terms of educational attainment, recognition is highest among those with no formal education or only primary education (73%) and those with university or postgraduate education (73%).
Support is slightly lower among those with a high school education (66%) and those with a vocational education (69%).
When it comes to knowledge of Duterte’s impeachment case, 87% said they knew about the case, 12% said they didn’t know, and 1% were undecided.
“Among the major geographic regions, awareness is highest in Mindanao (91%) and Visayas (88%),” the report states.
“The proportion is slightly lower in the National Capital Region (87 percent) and lowest in Balanced Luzon (78 percent),” the survey said.
Awareness is highest among respondents aged 45 to 54 (96%), 55 to 64 (96%) and 65 to 74 (96%).
Awareness levels are low among young people aged 25 to 34 (75%), especially those aged 75 and over (65%).
The survey was conducted from March 19 to 25, with face-to-face interviews with 1,200 male and female probability respondents aged 18 and over.
