Two years ago, in March 2024, the princess shared a recorded video statement confirming her cancer diagnosis. “This has been an extremely difficult few months for our family, but I have an amazing medical team who are taking great care of me and I am so grateful for that,” she said in her message.
“January [2024]I had major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, my condition was thought to be non-cancerous. The surgery was a success. However, tests after surgery revealed that cancer was already present. Therefore, my medical team recommended that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of treatment. The princess detailed that the diagnosis was a “huge shock” to her family and that recovery from such a major surgery would take a long time.
Then, in January 2025, the Princess of Wales announced that she was in remission, sharing the news in an exciting Instagram post. “It is such a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery,” she wrote. “Anyone who has gone through a cancer diagnosis knows that adjusting to a new normal takes time. However, I am looking forward to a fulfilling year. There is much to look forward to. Thank you all for your continued support.”
The Princess of Wales’ long-term health plans apparently include changing attitudes about how often and how much she drinks. We wish her all the best and continued recovery.
