The Raglan Tee Is Having a Moment—Shop the Chicest Ones

It’s been almost a year since I joined the company Fashionand having spent too many mornings wondering about what to wear to the office, I can confidently say I have my personal uniform figured out. I thought my style would be a little more elevated by now, but for ease and comfort, I find myself leaning toward a “less is more” approach: Every day, I throw on some vintage denim, ballet flats, and a T-shirt. Usually a neutral T-shirt, sometimes graphic, usually long sleeves. Recently, a special type of it has appeared: raglan.

I first real I took notice of this style (better known as the baseball T-shirt) when I saw Zoë Kravitz wearing a white and blue Auralee plaid slip dress in New York last summer. Not to get too technical, the raglan part refers to the sleeve construction that gives up the shoulder seam for a clean finish. Contrasting colors on the sleeves and body reflect its athletic roots, often worn by baseball players during practices in the 1960s and teams often choosing their own identifying colors.

in the most recent friends While rewatching, I noticed that Rachel Green—one of my most cited fashion icons despite being a fictional character—was wearing a baseball T-shirt a few times. I finally pulled the trigger when Cou Cou Intimates launched my most-worn raglan top, the Rina Tee. I immediately added two of the three colors to my cart—one white, one navy, both with gray sleeves—and plan to wear them all summer long, paired with my Charlie Beads slip dress and trusty Repetto Camilles.

Cou Cou has a slim fit with bell sleeves and a curved front; based on a top worn by Jane Birkin (another of my style icons). It has 3/4 sleeve length, like a traditional raglan T-shirt. But there’s no shortage of styles on the market – from short-sleeved to long-sleeved, and even knitwear options for when you’re feeling cold.
