Sarah Jessica Parker Wonders: What Does One Wear To Read With the Queen?

Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla parted ways after a somber morning at the 9/11 memorial in New York. A lover of literature, Queen Camilla came to the New York Public Library—her companion? There’s just Sarah Jessica Parker: a worthy representative of New York City and a book lover. SJP might spend some time wondering: What to wear to a reading with the Queen of England?

The actor stuck to the usual Sarah Jessica Parker style code with a touch of Carrie Bradshaw: a white polka-dot midi dress from the Alessandra Rich Summer 2026 collection with a scalloped ruffled collar and buttons down the front, paired with a pale pink pastel animal print coat. Her choice of shoes became less about the royal visit and more about satak Girls: A pair of statement-making ultra-light pink high heels with a black cage-shaped upper in the front and a sharp silhouette. The dramatic heels actually felt perfect for the occasion: Of course, it was on those famous steps that Carrie got her heart broken by Big, giving SJP the chance to inject some royal joy into the place.

Parker kept her look sheer and dewy with a bejeweled ladylike pearl necklace. Her long hair is parted to the side, long and slightly curly.

The Queen, meanwhile, opted for a custom navy blue Fiona Clare crepe silk dress and matching knee-length coat. She paired the look with the Queen Mother’s Britannia brooch and Eliot Zed Gladys leather pumps.

“I’m so grateful every time you focus on reading and the relationship between readers and books, and how it changes lives, enriches lives, develops empathy and curiosity. It means a lot to Her Majesty the Queen,” Parker told media at the event.

Parker took the Queen on a tour of the library, where she met literary celebrities and publishers, including Anna Wintour and chief librarian Brian Bannon. This is the library’s first royal visit since its founding.
