Helmed by costume designer Molly Rogers – you may recognize her work that’s all– The second film explores fashion themes such as modern power suits, glitter and embellishments, and even resort wear – with each cult character having a unique style and point of view. Perfectly aligned with the current trend cycle, we couldn’t help but notice that editor-in-chief Miranda Priestley, played by Meryl Streep, favors dresses and serious power tailoring – something that Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs also embodies throughout the film. The looks are all surprisingly wearable, providing guidance for workwear and beyond, with a hint of cinematic flair.

However, it wouldn’t be a blockbuster fashion film without some pomp and circumstance—Rogers performed everything from a custom red Balenciaga gown to a Dries Van Noten coat embellished with pearl drops, both worn by Streep. Hathaway’s Andy also has a penchant for statement dressing, ditching her editor’s uniform for something a little more sparkly, a dark blue sequined masterpiece by Paco Rabanne, signifying the character’s evolving confidence and sense of style, and proving that even she’s not immune to the influence of the fashion world.
