As of Tuesday evening, King Charles and Queen Camilla’s official visit to the White House is well underway. The trip’s itinerary began yesterday morning, when President Donald Trump and Melania Trump welcomed the royal couple to the White House with a private tea ceremony, followed by King Charles’ historic address to Congress. At the end of the day, the couple gathered for a formal state dinner with Supreme Court justices, Cabinet members and other notables, including Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez.
For the white-tie event, Melania chose to wear a pink Dior Haute Couture gown, whose column silhouette was taken from Jonathan Anderson’s debut couture collection for the French brand. The pastel hue was consistent with the pale yellow Adam Lippes skirt suit she wore earlier in the day.

While the first lady typically wears brands from the countries of visiting dignitaries, Melania eschews tradition. Regardless of the occasion, she often oscillates between American and European designers: Take the Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit she wore to this year’s State of the Union address, for example. This is not the first time she has worn Christian Dior haute couture after Christian Dior CEO Delphine Arnault attended her husband’s 2025 inauguration, as did her father, LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault. During the Trumps’ visit to the UK last year, Melania wore a gray Christian Dior dress and then changed into a yellow Carolina Herrera gown, which was completely different from the outfits worn by American and European designers yesterday.
