New Delhi – The Congress in Tamil Nadu will return to power after 59 years and two party MPs will join Chief Minister Vijay’s cabinet on Thursday, May 21, party general secretary KC Venugopal said on Wednesday.
Venugopal said that Congress president Mallikarjun Haq has approved MLAs Rajesh Kumar and P. Vishwanathan to enter the Tamil Nadu cabinet.
Venugopal said, “Honorable INC Chairman Sh. Mallikarjun @kharge ji has approved the incorporation of INC MLA Senior Advisors Rajesh Kumar and Thiru P. Vishwanathan into the Tamil Nadu Cabinet led by CM Thiru Vijay and they will be sworn in as ministers tomorrow.”
Venugopal pointed out that the grand old party will join the Tamil Nadu cabinet after a gap of 59 years, calling this a historic moment.
“This is a historic moment for us as the Congress party joins the Tamil Nadu cabinet after a gap of 59 years!” he said.
The Congress leader further conveyed its best wishes to the Congress MPs and said the party was confident that they would fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu and would work towards realizing the vision of welfare and people-friendly governance set by Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress was the first to extend support to the party after the Vijay-led TVK failed to secure a majority in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
