Bella Hadid Isn’t Letting Cannes’s No-Nudity Rule Stop Her

Two years ago, during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Bella Hadid put the final word on the nude sartorial conversation of the time when she walked the carpet in a sheer, unimaginable stocking dress by Saint Laurent. A year later, in response to the festival’s new no-naked-dressing rule, she discovered—Ahem— she wore a barely-there Saint Laurent dress to the opening ceremony, a cheeky workaround. This year, she’s still keeping her rebellious spirit alive.

Although the law prohibiting nudity is allegedly Hadid is still there (not that it’s stopping guests from stripping off on the Croisette), keeping nudity alive on the Croisette and on the streets of the French Riviera. But you can forget about the sheer dress from before – she’s got a new look.

at the premiere fair eraHadid once again turned to Daniel Roseberry for a custom Schiaparelli dress. (Lest we forget, two families shut down the Croisette in 2021 when Hadid wore a pair of gold couture lungs.) This time, the model paid homage to Jane Birkin, wearing a 1969 Schiaparelli version of a Birkin dress.

Rosebery designed an ivory gown for Hadid with trompe l’oeil lace made from rope and anchor thread. The deep V neckline goes down to just below the navel, and the navel and cleavage are separated by black beads that resemble sea urchins.
