Bella Hadid has been looking her best in Cannes: from Tom Ford-era Gucci tailoring to Sophia Loren-inspired looks, an ’80s Chanel ballgown and gilded Schiaparelli lunges, or licking an ice cream at Plage du Midi in a Hushidar Mortezaie keffiyeh fabric-paneled dress. The Croisette and the Cannes Film Festival red carpet belong to Ms. Bella Hadid.
This year, the model is back with a collection of fun, free-spirited classics that will keep you frolicking on the French Riviera. Hadid was seen leaving the prestigious Cap Eden Roque hotel in Antibes before taking a private boat to the music festival, where she danced happily with a friend on the pier wearing a pink checked crop top and low-waisted suit from Chantal Thomass Spring 1988. She paired the sweet two-piece with a Chopard Happy Hearts bracelet, a Shay Pave diamond pinky ring, vintage white oval sunglasses and pastel pink pointed-toe pumps. Her hair was messily tied to one side and she had a bright smile.
Leaving the boat for lunch with her mother, Yolanda Hadid, Bella chose a dusty-rose Alaïa Spring 2003 halterneck dress with a keyhole neckline, a drop-waist figure-hugging bodice and a slender butterfly-wing hem. The dress was sourced by her stylist, Mimi Cuttrell, from Paris-based vintage designer clothing seller Emerieu, which also designed clothing for Sabrina Carpenter and others from the decades-long romantic Dior era of Galliano, Chloé, Alaïa and other brands.
“We regularly source Alaïa vintage pieces because few designers understand the female form like Azzedine Alaïa does,” says Emerieu founder Mathilde Gaudier. (Gaudier shared that she bought the same dress in a variety of colors and lengths, including a gorgeous emerald green.) “When this Spring 2003 dress came to us, we felt Bella would be the perfect match for it, and Bella’s styling team seemed to feel the same way.”
Hadid paired the dress with a summery vintage Prada cream crochet tote (from Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber accessory favorite The Vintage Marché), tortoiseshell sunglasses and snakeskin Manolo Blahnik pumps from vintage shoe aficionado Shop Élléments. Earlier this weekend, Hadid opted for cooler, more casual travel attire from Prada Sport when she arrived at Nice Airport for the first time, wearing a Spring 1999 silver-blue sport zippered sleeveless top and cropped trousers set, paired with a retro Prada bag and Puma speedcat sneakers.
