When she last attended the Golden Globes, Amal Clooney’s Dior Haute Couture gown—or, more specifically, the white opera gloves she chose to wear it with—ignited a mini-internet storm. Critics in the blogosphere (and morning TV) didn’t approve of the newlyweds’ old-school choice, arguing it was more suitable for a prom queen or debutante, and inspired their own short-lived @msclooneygloves Twitter account. One would think that the international human rights lawyer (and Mrs. George Clooney) wouldn’t care too much about online red carpet comments, but that may be part of the reason why she sat out the Golden Globes for the next 10 years.
Clooney made a strong comeback tonight, wearing a form-fitting, pleated red dress that symbolized the bombshell style she’s honed over the past decade. Be there to support husband George, who is nominated for Best Actor in a Movie, Musical/Comedy for his performance at the 2026 Awards Jay KellyAmal added diamond drop earrings, a matching diamond bracelet, and a simple box clutch in the same eye-catching shade of red. (No opera gloves in sight.)
Although her two-time Oscar-winner husband is an awards season veteran, Amal is picky about the ceremonies she attends. She’s never accompanied George to the Oscars, but she’s usually tempted by a trip to Cannes (she wore Galliano-era Dior to the festival last summer), and she naturally makes room in her diary for the Albies — an annual event set up by the Clooney Foundation for Justice in 2022.
