It’s a big week for Italy: Pieter Mulier has been named chief creative officer of Versace on the eve of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. No one seemed more excited about both events than Amal Clooney, who arrived in Milan today wearing her favorite brand.
Earlier, the barrister and her husband Giorgio arrived in Milan just ahead of the Olympics opening ceremony, both employing the same neutral strategy and wearing a statement accessory. George opted for a navy blue jacket and trousers over a pair of Adidas, red sunglasses and a black fringed scarf tied around his neck.
Amal, for her part, went all-black, wearing a boat-neck top paired with a miniskirt, low-denier leggings and a black jacket, but this time instead of opting for her beloved pointy-toe heels or neutral boots, she opted for something truly statement-making: a pair of 4-inch knee-high leopard-print boots from — who else? ——Versace. That’s not all for Versace: she also carried a stylish black Medusa 95 handbag with gold hardware.
As a long-time friend of the brand (and Donatella Versace herself), Amal’s wardrobe is filled with Versace, whether it’s custom gowns, vintage miniskirts or killer shoes. We can only hope that we see Amal and Donatella among the crowds when the Olympics kick off later today.
