Pieter Mulier Exits Alaïa | Vogue

Pieter Mulier is leaving Alaïa.

Alaïa CEO Myriam Serrano said in a statement released today: “We sincerely thank Pieter for his vision and commitment, writing an important chapter in the brand’s continued development. Over the past five years, Pieter and the outstanding team he leads have shaped Alaïa’s creative innovation, respected its heritage, and enhanced the brand’s relevance, confidence and global recognition.”

Mulier has served as the brand’s creative director since 2021. Before Alaïa, he spent a large part of his career working with Raf Simons, first at Simons’ eponymous label in Antwerp, then with Jil Sander and Christian Dior, where he also got his own couture streak. In 2016, Simons was appointed creative director after being named chief creative officer of American brand Calvin Klein.

At Alaïa, owned by Richemont, Mulier impressed the fashion world with his technical virtuosity and creativity, architectural dresses and bestsellers such as ballet flats and Le Teckel shoulder bags. Richemont said in its latest financial report that sales of fashion and accessories brands such as Chloé and Alaïa rose 3% in the quarter ended December 31.

Mulier’s exit comes just months after Dario Vitale abruptly departed as creative director of Versace, prompting speculation about who could replace him. Mulier was also one of the names that emerged during the creative reset in 2025, specifically the creative director position at Balenciaga, which was eventually filled by Pierpaolo Piccioli.
