West Hollywood has a lot to offer, but it’s probably best known for its many gay bars (and venues owned by reality star Lisa Vanderpump). According to lifelong Angeleno and journalist Daniel Spielberger, “If you want top 40 pop, real beer, and an amazing tuna burger, start your night at Hi Tops. It’s also great if you’re into sports for some reason. Their trivia nights are super popular ( fierce competition The boys might even make a hot guest appearance! ). “

He adds, “The beach has great mud and great hip-hop music. Boys Town isn’t for everyone, so if you’re in the area and want a charming retro queer vibe and decadent martinis, head to Or Bar. Across the street is Book Circus, which has some unique tchotchkes and fun literature. There’s more to West Hollywood than Vanderpump.”

Built in 1922 as the home and studio of Schindler, his wife Pauline and friends, the house alone is worth a visit, but it also regularly hosts rotating exhibitions of other artists.
