The National Library is of great significance not only for Milan but also globally, and is particularly relevant to the theme of this year’s festival: at a time when diversity and variety are increasingly under attack, it is a space that fosters and protects complex knowledge. This year’s PhotoVogue Festival, women’s womencelebrates the multifaceted ways in which women express and imagine themselves, while challenging assumptions that women’s rights, visibility, and recognition are guaranteed.
Featuring a rich program of exhibitions, panels, demos and digital displays, the festival creates a site of encounter where women’s stories are seen and valued, where representation becomes power and resistance. PhotoVogue transcends the binary opposition of the male and female gaze and aims to reflect the fluidity and complexity of women’s lived experiences.
The PhotoVogue Festival also coincides with Launching the March issue Italian Voguefor this reason, specifically for women’s women theme, extending the festival’s conversation to print, digital and cultural platforms.
