Austin-based interior designer Annie Downing agrees on the popularity of earth tones. Does she like a particular color? Yellow-orange ocher. “It brings a sunlit, lived-in quality to the room and pairs well with antiques and contemporary pieces,” says Downing.

Several designers have stated that red and burgundy are their favorites and will likely appear in many interiors this year. Downing is a fan of true “bright, confident reds,” adding that this year, “I think we’re going to see bolder colors overall: less ‘safe’ options and more personality.”

Lemongrass is a way to use white in a softer way and emphasize the bolder and darker colors in the mix.
