The Mauritshuis in The Hague announced Thursday that the most famous work in its collection is by Johannes Vermeer girl wearing pearl earringsWill be traveling to Japan this fall. The Japan Times reported the news.
The 17th-century masterpiece will be temporarily loaned to Osaka’s Nakanoshima Art Museum while the Dutch museum will be closed for renovations in August and September. The painting was last loaned to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam for the 2023 Vermeer retrospective.
