“After this experience, I probably could never go back to New York because I didn’t think it would ever compare to it,” Luke Evans said of his whirlwind Broadway debut. The Rocky Horror Show This year, the work earned him a Tony Award nomination (tune in this Sunday, June 7 to see how he fares!) and made him a temporary resident of a truly stunning Eagle’s Nest in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood.
To follow the Welsh actor for 24 hours is to witness his various routines from point A to point B: brewing his morning coffee (he makes sure the apartment’s espresso machine is a baritone); walking his adorable little dachshund Lala; drinking fresh juice (carrots, beets, apples, celery and “lots of ginger”) that he’s about 15 A staple for years – he almost entirely attributes his health to these juices; wolfing down a hearty lunch that more or less gets him through the rest of the day (Evans doesn’t eat for two hours before the show; he has a corset to wear!); and then begins the long process of donning a wig, makeup and donning his first costume in front of the curtain – including the “monster boots” that make him a staggering 6’8″ tall. (as he describes his transformation) Rocky Horror “This is probably the most extraordinary transformation I’ve ever experienced as an actor in any role I’ve ever played,” and one gets the feeling he means that both physically and mentally. )
Happily, Evans has a happy group of people around him to help him stay Rocky Horror From his life and business partner Fran, who runs the day-to-day operations of clothing and lifestyle brand BDXY Studio, to his professional dresser Emma Blodgette, and the dozens of “obsessed fans” who fill the house every night, everything is on track.
