If walls could talk, this 1930s neoclassical mansion would have a lot to say. The family home served as a bastion of social and political life for many years before being abandoned in World War II and eventually became a refuge for displaced people.
Recently restored, 2026 is the first year it will officially open to guests. The moment you enter, you’ll understand why this light-filled space is so treasured: high ceilings, grand arches, and a sweeping marble staircase exude old-world nobility; framed paintings, bookshelves filled with books, and a mid-century piano add a personal touch. French doors open to a balcony with views of Chania and the sea, and a garden filled with citrus and olives is partly connected to the city’s ancient Venetian fortifications.
