Sometimes the coat is not an integral part of the outfit; yes clothing. Not even a spring day in Los Angeles could stop Kaia Gerber from living that truth yesterday.
The model and actress dined out last night at famed Los Angeles hotspot Giorgio Baldi, where she opted for an edgy take on spring-summer outerwear: a funnel-neck double-breasted trench coat from Mango, of all places. Funnel necks have been popular in recent months to protect against blustery winter weather, but Gerber proves that the buttoned-up look works just as well in warmer temperatures.
Gerber’s light khaki trench coat fell just below her knees, and as she buttoned and fastened the coat, the slit of a navy midi dress peeked out from underneath. By pairing a midi-length coat with a dress of the same length, Gerber raised some curiosity: What does the rest of the dress look like? But isn’t that the charm and mystery of coat-front dressing?
While the coat suggested cooler weather, her mismatched shoes suggested the opposite: a pair of ultra-thin thong heels. But hey, Kaia Gerber knows that when you want to wear this coat, you want to wear this coat!
