The couple had a clear idea of their budget and vision when they began wedding planning. But despite their connections to the wedding industry through work, their first planner interview was a wake-up call. “They were very harsh and upfront about what they actually wanted from our vision, and at the time, I found their reaction a little off-putting,” one of the couples said. “Looking back, though, I get it — luckily we ended up finding a planner who was willing to work with us and let the budget evolve as we made decisions and gained a clearer understanding of our priorities.”
When it came to the couple’s budget, two of the top priorities were photography and entertainment. “I knew exactly how I wanted to capture the day and what style I wanted for the photos,” says one member of the couple. The lighting bills added up more than expected. “I really had no idea lighting would be its own product line, let alone one of the larger ones. I had no idea how much it would contribute to the overall design and feel of the room, but when I saw it put together, I just got it,” they shared. Luckily, thanks to their industry connections, they were able to reduce their expenses a bit with some freebies.
Looking back on the weekend, the couple says it was all worth it: “It was so special to host such a fun, meaningful party for our loved ones. It was the first time in decades for some of our family members to be together, and sadly, it was also the last for a few. We will never exchange these memories.”
