Every Wedding After-Party Dress I Tried on in My Search to Find “The One”

My June wedding date is getting closer, and even though I picked out my dress months ago, I still miss my staple piece: a wedding party dress that I can change into when the DJ starts cranking up the BPM. I’ll be saying “I do” in the fields of the Hudson Valley, so my personal goal was to find a dress that was fun and suited the vibe of our celebration and venue. A skin-tight style that might be ideal in Miami feels out of place against a backdrop of tall grass and wild roses. Something too structured is also out of the question for me. A bit too formal for our “pastoral cocktail” dress code.

So, I did what any fashion-loving girl does best: got busy shopping. I spent the day wandering around SoHo, browsing various boutiques, and ordering some additional styles online to expand my selection. Before I gave myself the chance to see what different versions of me would look like on my wedding night, I wanted to cast a wide net and not commit to any one silhouette (or even wear white).

I’m still in the final stages of debating which dress to choose, but after trying nearly a dozen options, I think I’ve found it. Read on to see all the styles I tested out on the trip, as well as the reception dress I plan to call “the one.”
