Vogue’s Guide to the Met Gala Weekend Buzz in New York City

Come alive: The first Monday in May is almost here. With the unveiling of the project Costume Art Just days after the opening of the exhibition and the 2026 Met Gala, anticipation is at a fever pitch.

As the biggest names in entertainment and fashion designers prepare to board international flights to Manhattan, busy assistants are already in overdrive, publicists are hard at work, and the industry’s most popular glam teams are gearing up.

As for the audience? It’s a chance to get involved in a celebrity-related event in some way, shape, or form, whether that’s indulging in a veritable cocktail or enjoying a supermodel-approved beauty treatment.

Here’s a cheat sheet for when someone asks your plan.

Wednesday

The British must be in town. The King’s Trust Gala returns to the city, with a guest list that includes real members of the royal family and those in the paparazzi’s eyes. Stella McCartney will also be gathering a crew to celebrate her new collaboration with H&M – and if past H&M campaigns are any example, no expense has been spared in the production.

Thursday

Tory Burch will host her namesake foundation’s second annual Founders’ Breakfast in honor of Anna Wintour beginning at 8 a.m. sharp. Later, Anne Hathaway and Erin Walsh will celebrate the stylist’s new book, The art of dressing deliberately, Host a chic soiree on Fifth Avenue. After dark, influential photographer Steven Klein will blow out birthday candles at a party in a maximalist venue that’s particularly befitting his aesthetic.

Friday

T minus three days means it’s time Fashion The weekend officially kicks off with the now traditional First Friday celebrations. Chloe Malle, Simone Ashley and Teyana Taylor are throwing a huge party at a venue that, when you hear the dress code, you know: body, body, body.

The Not-A-Normal Show made famous by TikTok, which brings together more than 60 antique dealers and independent vendors from across the country, will also be open Friday from 6 p.m. to Sunday night at 31 East 17th Street to cure any shop you may encounter.

Saturday

Espresso, anyone? this Fashion The café will be open early in the morning and will feature a recording of Tory Burch’s The Run-Through live podcast in conversation with Nicole Phelps. A must-see short-lived attraction salon Crews at the SoHo location are ready to welcome the public starting at 10 a.m. and will remain there through Monday. (Learn how to make iced matcha and shortbread here.)

As night falls, Colman Domingo will be hosting his second annual Put That Sh*t On party in Chelsea with friends and collaborators, so you can bet the Don Julio shots will be on into the wee hours. Teyana Taylor is reportedly hosting a super-exclusive, no-photography burlesque show — and she’s starring in it too! Beyoncé is hosting a super-intimate gathering on the Upper East Side to welcome fans of her brand, Cécred. Elsewhere in the city, news broke that invitations had been extended to a dig organized by Jeff and Lauren Bezos.

Sunday

Take a day off? Hardly. At least Fashion The café will serve up plenty of caffeine in the context of all-day programming. As for any stars represented by United Artists, they’ll enjoy a cocktail or two with their hard-working managers at the entertainment company’s annual Pre-Met Gala party at its posh NoMad location.

For those who want to look their best (or rather, face), they should book a celebrity-worthy Met Gala-style La Mer Sculpting treatment at the EDITION Hotel, or enjoy it with Cynthia Rivas at her tranquil studio in WSA. There, you might meet the likes of Sarah Pidgeon, Camilla Morrone or Cara Delevingne, who are already scheduled to get their buccinator checked.
