On the Podcast: ’90s Vogue Alumni Reveal Their Real Reaction to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’

We’re just days away from the 2026 Met Gala, which means Vogue fashionistas from far and wide will be jetting off to New York City, including our very own Chioma Nnadi. Chioma, Chloe and Nicole finally reunited in the studio (on the same day, in fact, another member of the British royal family visited the World Trade Center) and chatted.

Earlier this week, Fashion Hosting the 2nd Annual Book Club Party: Screening The Devil Wears Prada 2which will be released on May 1. After the film was completed, Chloe invited Fashion Alumnae Kate Young and Billy Norwich join her on stage for a live podcast recording.

Kate started working as Anna’s assistant in the late 1990s, while Billy was working as a writer and editor Fashionshared memories and talked about their reactions to the book and film when they were first published. In fact, Billy accompanied Anna to the premiere at the Paris Theater in 2006 and told Chloe that Anna wanted to wear Prada because “it was her humour”. He also talked about the test he created with the late Charles Gandee, which went viral last year when new york times Posted an interactive multiple-choice version titled “Can you get a job at?” Fashion 1990s?

However, not all memories are so rose-tinted. Kate recalls feeling hurt after reading series of articles TDWP: “She’s just making fun of us.” As for Billy, his biggest pet peeve is “every time I get on a plane, this is what’s playing. So I can’t escape it.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Chloe, Chioma and Nicole discussed the age-old question that came up on this week’s Chanel show: What yes Is it cruise season or vacation season for fashion? Nicole’s simplest explanation was: “Cruising is the season between fall and spring.” The show itself sparked discussion throughout the office and the wider fashion community, especially the non-footwear pairs that several models wore on the show. This almost-bare-feet look is certainly not practical, but maybe it will make an appearance on the red carpet in the future.

Chioma also dropped big news: After a relatively brief courtship, Zoe Kravitz and Harry Styles are engaged. (And the rock is nothing to scoff at!) In other news, ahead of the first Monday in May, a Vogue Café will be opening at Altro Paradiso in New York City on Saturday and Sunday. Get your tickets in the Vogue app – we’ll see you there.
